Yikes...losing sucks but sounds like one hell of a bout!

It truly was one amazing bout! I didn’t want it to end (especially the way that it did). We were so damn close. Anyway, I am very proud of WOJ and the performance that they put in last night! That was definitely top-notch derby. I can’t wait until next weekend now!

Did anybody go to the after party? Did I miss anything good there?

The Coroner said...

Afterparty was really good, I thought. First Aitch and I went to the Spar Cafe for something to eat, where we ran into Avening Angel from the Rec League. Then we headed over to the afterparty and just overheard and were engaged in a lot of great conversation. Got face-time with quite a few luminaries and tried to learn more about derby. Probably drank too much, but eluded a hangover. I must say that I do like the Brotherhood Tavern.

[warning: sarcasm alert]
Big kudos to the scorekeepers, who credited WOJ with most of the points they won.

But besides that...it was an incredible bout, fiercely fought by both sides.

I was proud to be part of the loudest and craziest fan section I've ever seen.

So what do you guys think of the new purple uniforms? They're not growing on me. I hear that the purple uniforms are only for the away games, and that they're gonna wear black jerseys for home games. That's not as bad, I guess.

The Coroner said...

George, I am no fan of purple either, but those uniforms actually looked pretty good and were, in combination with WOJ's intimidation warm-up routine, looked quite menacing.

I'll be interested in seeing what personal modifications Heathers have made on their uniforms come the G'n'R bout.

Well, I don't know. Intimidation? I guess that I didn't see it that way. Click here to see what I see when I look at those purple uniforms.

I love you, you love me, we're a derby family, with a nice cold beer and a shot from me to you, won't you say you love me, too?

As a kid purple was my favorite color, as an adult, not so much. Nonetheless,I thought the uniforms looked good! Very uniform and sporty / serious.

And that bout was AWESOME - WOJ did great, saw some amazing stuff! All the ticky tacky over it is kinda sad. I am so glad I got to see it!

p.s. can't wait till you see their new logo! Might recommend bringing a few extra bucks for merch saturday!

Ringer, are you referring to the new logo that says “a game of brutal beauty” under the RCR fists? If so, then Blood Clottia already conned me into buying one of those shirts. My complaint with them is that there is sparkly crap all over the shirt. Aside from looking effeminate while wearing a sparkly shirt, the main problem is that the sparkles inevitably come off of the shirt and find themselves all over your skin. So after wearing it for a few hours you look like something from a drag queen show. Also, it is freakin’ impossible to say “brutal beauty” while you’re drunk!

No, there is a new logo for travel team and tshirts. Will be at next bout. All monies go to the TT travel fund.

Travel team is changing to just "Rose City All Stars"
Ringer did the logo for them.

A game of brutal beauty = lameness of Titanic proportions

Noz...out

Sweet! I'm definitely bringing extra cash for merch. Can't wait to see the new logo! Anybody wanna buy a slightly used sparkly shirt?

Ironically, I just finished a long ass memo on why "Re-branding" during THIS time of economic uncertainty is a dumb ass idea. Of course the same can not be said about "RCAS" because the league never really marketed WoJ in the first place.

I will say, I liked the way AoA and WoJ had their own identities and AoA did market their identity well, but both squads are All Stars and I take exception to the idea that AoA is the "B" squad. The proof is in the numbers and if this is good for the league...that's all that matters.

Now, bring on the Rats...
